Certification



Prior to our association, there has never been an association dedicated to school safety & security professionals. Our association is strictly for schools located in the United States and territories and include K-12 public, charter and private schools, junior colleges, universities and colleges.

Our professional ratings show the industry that you have a specific standard of training and experience in the school safety & security industry.All candidates must be BASS members and have served or be currently serving in a school safety or security roll and meet the requirements below. This includes a staff position with a school or a private NGO who provides safety, security or consulting or services for schools.Our certifications are not based on higher education degrees or levels yet, actual specialized industry experience and specialized industry training.



BASS - Associate Professional





Testing Requirements

Applicants must complete an application to verify that the candidate meets the requirements. Upon your application being accepted you will be required to take and pass a multiple choices test and score 80%. If you fail the test, you may retake the test in 10 days. An additional test fee will be required.


Fees

Test Application fee: $100.00

Testing fee (Include first year of certification): $150.00 Annual Certification Fee after first year: $150.00

Testing Requirements

Applicants must complete an application to verify that the candidate meets the requirements. Upon your application being accepted you will be required to take and pass a multiple choices test and score 80%. If you fail the test, you may retake the test in 10 days. An additional test fee will be required.

Experience Requirements

5 years’ experience in school safety & security, must have served or be currently serving in a school safety & security role as a staff member or NGO consultant with a private company or organization.


Option 1

5 years in a school safety & security role as a school staff member or consultant or service provider with an NGO private organization. Experience should include working with emergency operations plans and safety & security assessments.


Option 2

3 years in a school safety & security role as a school staff member or consultant with an NGO private organization. Experience should include working with emergency operations plans and safety & security assessments.


and any one of the following in any combination:

2 years employed with a local, state of federal law enforcement agency or 2 additional years employed as a school safety & security role at a school or with an NGO. or 2 years employed as a licensed armed security guard in a school safety & security role as a staff member or NGO consultant with a private company or organization. or 2 years employed as a licensed state private investigator served in a school safety & security role as a staff member or NGO consultant with a private company or organization.


Other Licenses & Certifications Required

Texas DPS School Safety Program certification or Current Texas School Guardian Program certification.

Experience Requirements

10 years’ experience involved in school safety & security. Must have served or be currently serving in a school safety & security role as a staff member or NGO consultant with a private company or organization. This can include any school staff member who serves in school safety & security role.


Option 1

10 years in a school safety & security role as a school staff member or consultant with an NGO private organization.


Option 2

5 years in a school safety & security role as a school staff member or consultant with an NGO private organization. Experience should include working with emergency operations plans and safety & security assessments and 5 years employed with a local, state of federal law enforcement agency or as a an armed school security guard.


Other Licenses & Certifications must include one of the following:

ALERRT SORD certification, ALERRT Level 1 certification, TCOLE 3295 Reality Based Training/Shoot House, Current Texas DPS School Safety Program certification, Current Texas School Guardian Program certification.
